Take it on Tuesday: New Years Resolutions

Take it on Tuesday!

"Last year's words belong to last year's language, and next year's words await another voice...to make an end is to make a beginning" TS Elliot.

I love the New Year because I truly use it as an opportunity to change my mindset and behaviors. I no longer have specific long lists of things I want to do, but rather, I adopt three principles, and from those, I think about what falls into each bucket.

  1. Choose a scripture- My 2025 scripture is Colossians 3:12-17. By focusing on these verses, I aim to be more loving, patient, and kind to myself, which will undoubtedly extend to others. I also want to experience new "experiences" that allow me to be present and grateful. Lastly, I want to do things that bring me challenge, joy, and peace.

  2. Adopt one word- (My friend Crystal Broussard gave me this idea). My 2025 word is PEACE. Adopting this word helps me prioritize what I need to focus on and what I need to let go of.

  3. Daily decisions- I focus on creating discipline around those decisions that help me succeed on 1 and 2.
"The great doesn't happen through impulse alone and is a succession of little things that are brought together." van Gogh

Whether you create resolutions, lists, etc., always seek to live your life rather than allowing life to happen to you.
